The last two days of the Big Dig were the best of the three weeks. In the final location where we were working at the end we came across a substantial amount of Romano-British building material in one of our test pits. These photos show how it appeared as we were digging and give an indication of how much there was and how undamaged by ploughing.
There is no doubt that this is Romano-British tile, brick and stone building material and it is some distance from the known villa, so we have to assume it is another R-B building. For obvious reasons were are having to refrain from mentioning the location until we can return and conduct a full excavation with the landowner's permission, hopefully next year. It looks promising!
